Goals and New Recipes

I have to admit, I haven't ever been very consistent with making specific New Year's resolutions every January- and I think I've become a little lazy in the personal goal setting department over the last few years (hmm....2 kids in 18 months have anything to do with it?!)

But I love having goals. I know when I actually commit mentally, and write it down, then I am that much more likely to do something! I have a good laugh though when I find pieces of paper in old journals or notebooks with my short/long term goals written down from when I was in jr. high and high school. (The reason I laugh is because I still haven't accomplished them!)

Example #1: Learn spanish. - unless you count the words I have learned from watching Dora the Explorer over 1,000 times, then no.

Example #2: Travel to foreign country to perform dental hygiene volunteer service- well, I think I was supposed to learn Spanish first so I could actually talk to patients instead of only being able to say "abrir la boca"

I do still plan on working on those goals...someday.

But for this year, here is something I think I can accomplish, and I thought it would be fun to keep track of it through my blog.

I am going to try a new recipe at least once a week.

Sounds simple right? (I hope so!) Seriously, I have a major love for cookbooks and food blogs and I love to meal plan and try new recipes. I also feel blessed to be stay at home mom, and have the ability to cook for my family most of the time.

I understand many of the recipes I try may be ones that many others already know, I'm just wanting to try new ones for me and my family.  I would love to add to my collection of good healthy recipes that my kids will actually eat, or any kind of yummy dessert.  I hope I can stick to it (without gaining 10 extra pounds from all the fun!)

Feel free to send any recipes my way, and hopefully I'll post some that others can enjoy as well!

Last week's recipe:  Lion House Dinner Rolls- I know this recipe has been around a while, but I'd never made it myself...and since I'm definitely not a homemade bread expert (yet) ;)  I was quite pleased that they turned out great!  We enjoyed them warm for dinner, then perfect for lunch sandwiches the next day!
Find the recipe here: http://sisterscafe.blogspot.com/2010/12/lion-house-rolls.html

Good for you Stacey! It takes most people many tries before they succeed at bread and roll making. Looks like you got it right the first time. I'm looking forward to following your recipe adventure.

Way to go Stacey! Great goal! When I saw it I thought "maybe I should do that. Kirk complains that I make the same meals over and over...." I'm excited to see the new recipes you try!
